Over the years, the Chartered Accountancy profession has achieved rapid growth by virtue of quality professional services being rendered by its members, and has come to occupy a prominent role in the world economy and society. It is being conducted by ICAI in India. The Institute enrolls students for the Chartered Accountancy Course, imparts theoretical education and monitors practical training to be undergone by them as per the requirements of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. It also holds qualifying examinations for its registered students and issues Certificate of Practice to Members, intending to practice the profession.

Requirements

The Chartered Accountancy course can be done after passing class XII exams, Graduation and Post Graduation. After XII, the students can take the foundation route and after graduation/post graduation they can get direct entry to the intermediate level.

Job Prospects

Chartered accountants work in fields of accounting, including public, management and government accounting. While specific job duties vary greatly within specific positions, many duties shared between CAs include preparing financial reports and documents, maintaining records of investments, reviewing potential financial and providing professional opinions in regards to the fiscal decisions of the firm.

Pros and Cons

CA  as a profession has a clear career path. It is a growing and stable job field. The salary packages are attractive. A person has opportunities for professional growth. It even has entrepreneurial potential.

The cons are that the education is ongoing. Sometimes the work may seem dull and stressfull. It has a season too.
